NEW YBR250 FROM YAMAHA A stylish, economical and practical new commuter bike. Yamaha has always been committed to offering our customers the widest possible choice of machines which are designed to exceed their expectations, and this policy is underlined by the introduction of the new YBR250. Powered by a 250cc 4-stroke engine housed in a full-sized chassis, the YBR250 has been designed to cater for those riders who want a motorcycle that combines responsive performance with good looks and low running costs. With its efficient engine and chassis design, the YBR250 succeeds in combining style with economy and practicality, making this one of the most attractive models in the growing commuter class.
ENGINE Strong torque output for easy commuting At the heart of this attractive new commuter bike is a responsive 250cc air-cooled 4-stroke single-cylinder engine. This compact powerplant has been developed with commuting in mind, and has been designed to deliver plenty of low to mid-speed torque for responsive performance in traffic jams and stop-go city riding.
Fuel injection system The compact new engine on the YBR250 features a whole range of features normally associated with larger, more expensive models. In order to give good performance with reduced emissions, this 4-stroke single-cylinder engine is equipped with a new fuel injection system breathing through a large-capacity airbox. This highly-efficient system gives excellent throttle response, making the YBR250 an ideal machine for nipping in and out of traffic on congested city streets. And out on the highway the clean-running fuel injection delivers strong acceleration with good all-round performance and impressive economy.
Forged piston and plated cylinder For reduced frictional losses and higher engine running efficiency the YBR250 benefits from a durable forged piston running in a low-friction plated cylinder – and a 50% crank balancer is designed to help eliminate engine vibrations for a more lux New YBR250 from Yamaha • Stylish, economical and practical new commuter bike • 250cc air-cooled 4-stroke single-cylinder with oil cooler • Strong torque output for easy commuting • Fuel injection system and 2-way catalyser with oxygen sensor • Comfortable and stable full-sized chassis • High-quality suspension • 17-inch cast alloy wheels with disc front brake, drum rear brake • Large-capacity 19.2-litre fuel tank urious ride.
5-speed transmission The bike’s compact 5-speed transmission is designed to handle the requirements of today’s commuter, and features carefully-chosen gear ratios that help to optimise this attractive new bike’s performance in and out of town.
2-way catalyser and oxygen sensor In order to exceed current EU-3 emissions regulations, this 250c 4-stroke engine’s exhaust system is fitted with a 2-way catalyser and an oxygen sensor. The catalyser is complemented by an air induction system which is designed to help enhance the combustion processes of any unburnt exhaust gases.
Efficient oil cooler As any commuter knows, engines can get very hot during stop-start city riding, and so to help the YBR250 run at a more consistent temperature we have fitted an oil cooler. This lightweight unit not only helps the bike to run more efficiently, it also increases rider comfort and enhances overall performance. Technical Highlights Engine • 250cc air-cooled 4-stroke single-cylinder • Oil cooler • Exceeds EU-3 emissions regulations • Fuel injection system • Large-capacity airbox • 2-way catalyser with oxygen sensor • Air induction system • 5-speed transmission • Forged piston • Plated cylinder • Crankshaft balancer
CHASSIS Comfortable and stable-handling chassis Like the new engine, the YBR250’s chassis has been designed to handle the specific demands of daily commuting in urban and suburban conditions. And in the same way that the engine has been constructed using high-quality components, the chassis design also benefits from a range of features normally associated with larger and more expensive models.
Double-cradle frame When developing the new YBR250, our designers set out to create a chassis that would offer high levels of riding comfort, and good handling stability. They have achieved their first goal by building a new double-cradle steel frame which offers a relaxed, natural riding position. And by mounting the 250cc 4-stroke engine in the optimum position, they have achieved an idealised front/rear balance which ensures easy handling and high levels of stability.
High quality suspension This new 250 is characterised by a feel of quality throughout, and the front and rear suspension systems underline the class-the leading specification of this good-looking commuter bike.
At the rear the YBR250 is equipped with Yamaha’s link-type Monocross system which gives smooth and progressive suspension action for a luxurious ride and good roadholding. And at the front this high quality lightweight runs with 37mm diameter forks that give plush suspension action and easy steering characteristics.
Disc front brake, drum rear brake Braking is handled by a large-diameter 282mm diameter front disc brake, which delivers strong and progressive performance – while a drum brake provides efficient stopping power at the rear. It’s an effective combination delivering controllable braking that is ideally suited to congested urban situations.
17-inch cast alloy wheels The YBR250’s cast alloy wheels not only give this great looking bike a sporty new look – they also help minimise unsprung weight for smoother and more effective suspension performance. And they’re also easy to clean! Featuring a curved, 6-spoke design, these 17-inch wheels are fitted with a wide 130/70-17 rear tyre, with a 100/80-17 at the front. This combination ensures good roadholding, excellent traction and easy steering qualities.
Large-capacity 19.2-litre fuel tank With its highly efficient fuel injected engine, this new 250 is one of the most economical in the class – and being equipped with a large-capacity 19.2-litre fuel tank, the YBR250 rider can travel an awfully long way before stopping to fill up. The beautifully designed tank is designed to give a comfortable riding position, and it incorporates sporty-looking air scoops which direct air on to the engine for more efficient cooling.
Stepped dual seat For maximum rider and passenger comfort the YBR250 features a well-padded stepped dual seat. The contoured design gives plenty of support for the rider during acceleration, and the seat height is low enough to allow most riders to get both feet on the ground in slow or stationary traffic. And with its deeply padded rear seat section, convenient grab bar and ergonomic passenger footrests, passenger comfort is also assured.
Powerful lighting and LCD instrumentation A round multi-reflector headlight projects a powerful beam, and the rear tail light blends stylishly with the upswept tail cowl. And to help keep the rider informed, the LCD instrumentation features a speedometer with kilometre/mile displays, as well as an odometer and useful tripmeter.
